The Circular Economy is of interest for young people from the ValdeSerra school (Almería). AGROFOOD was in charge of introducing two students in the concept of Circular Economy.

Two young people from the ValdeSerra school located in Vera (Almería) have chosen the European LIFECITRUS project to learn more about Circular Economy.

The Circular Economy is presented as a resource utilization system where the reduction of the elements prevails: to minimize the production to the indispensable minimum, and when it is necessary to make use of the product, to bet on the reuse and recycling. The LIFECITRUS project consists of demonstrating that it is possible to recycle the by-products of the citrus processing industry by obtaining a new natural ingredient for use in the preparation of new foods.

The students of ValdeSerra School (Vera, Almeria) could learn about the application of the new ingredient in the production of strawberry jam and they valued the interest that the results of the project can have for the area of Almería, which also has citrus fields and potential food companies for the incorporation of the Circular Economy in their productive processes.
